The Cosmic Odyssey by arsdraw The Cosmic Odyssey by arsdraw
The planet Psi was found suitable for colonization when it was discovered by people in 2256. After they had sent the expedition escorted by the Federationís fleet, it was clear that the planet wasnít adapted for this purpose. The only possible things that they could take were the useful organic substances, which atmosphere. Few years later specialized space ships were constructed to collect these substances. So they were escorted to the Planet by the Federationís fighters.

There is good use of depth here. Then there is the contrasts between the ground and the spaceships themselves, the forefront one being clear and other other two, blurred.

Looks like the Prawns Mothership from the movie District 9. I can see the disc shaped gravity drives. it also has that saucer shape like it too. :D

I like it except for the blurry bits. It doesn't feel that it's a small enough part of the image to be out of focus. Like, it's so noticable that it shoudl be sharp, and its irritating that it's not you know?

The ships remind me of the one from District 9.
Was that intentional or just chance?
But it a great rendered composition.

It does.

It ain't the Poleepkwa homeworld, I don't think any moons of theirs have rings. Maybe a colony or something. OR, if the mothership was actually some kind of military troop transport, it could be an invasion force or something...

Hmm I asume you say that because of the little toy that Oliver fixes that shows their home planet. I don't remember seeing rings either. Who knows, could be a settlement, could be an invasion, could be gathering resourses. Oh the possibilities!

I hate to be a stick in the mud, but...

While I agree the motion blur is a nice touch, the focus blur on the two more-distant ships seems incorrect. How could they be blurred, yet the distant landscape, which is further away, is still in sharp focus?

If you were going for a "limited depth of field" effect, seems like the horizon, as well as the ringed planet in the sky, should have been blurry also.

Maybe some atmospheric haze effect on the two far away ships would have been a better way to create the feel of distance?

Just my 2Ę.

now that you mention, it really doesnt make sense. unless this planet had no atmosphera, you shouldn't be able to see the planet in the background as focused as the flying ship in the foreground.

unless one asumes are two ships in the background are moving incredibly fast or are shaking at high speed(wich wouldn't make sense either since the obejcts portrayed as moving 'fast' have a trail behind them)

... no, it just doesnt make sense at all, and it really feels the whole scale of the objects in the scene is all screwed up. i can't say the town below the ship is far, or its just the same size, or anything. and all teh random lightsources aren't helping at all either :V
